Finnøy is a municipality where people live on 16 islands. Two of the islands are connected to the fast land by an undersea tunnel. The others 14 islands are connected together by ferry. Key words and values for the whole municipality are green and blue landscape, nature, culture, local food and silence. Agriculture is the largest industry: milk, meat, eggs, tomatoes, chicken, sheep and salomon producers. Travelling business is also an important industry for Finnøy. There are a few entrepreneurs and services business.

The center of Finnøy is Judaberg, where the town-hall is located. A planning work is taking place for working out Judaberg as an active centrum for the future, with shops, culture and art, business offices, local center for small industry food, center for travelling/tourism and totally, a place where people can meet, talk and relax.

Totally about 2900 inhabitants live in the municipality. There are about 900 cabins and leisure houses. Finnøy has increased the population the last year (2010) by about 4 %.

Finnøy is also one of 5 municipalities connected to the Ryfylke region.  The Ryfylke region is working out their own branding, and the branding work carried out in Finnøy will be connected to the Ryfylke brand work.
